Technical aids for dementia

It is important for people with dementia to start using aids in time

If a person with dementia gets used to using assistive devices in time, they get used to it early and can maintain their skills for longer.

There are many aids in everyday life for people with dementia

There are many different types of aids to increase safety in dementia:

  • Door alarm that warns relatives when a person with dementia leaves home
  • Safety alarm that increases safety for people with dementia
  • Stove guard that prevents fires from occurring
  • GPS watch that shows the user’s location and alerts relatives if the user leaves a predetermined safe area
  • Medication reminder that reminds the user when it is time to take medication

Sensorem’s personal alarm has GPS positioning, medication reminders and automatic fall alarm

Sensorem’s personal alarm is an example of a technical aid specially developed for people with dementia. The personal alarm works outdoors and has built-in GPS positioning so that relatives can see the user’s position on a map in the Sensorem app. Relatives are automatically called by the personal alarm (two-way communication) if the user leaves a predetermined geographical area. The personal alarm also has medication reminders, which means that the watch emits a sound and tells the user that it is time to take their medication. The personal alarm can also alert automatically in the event of a fall with the built-in fall sensor.
